About TSM

Tri-State Multiples (TSM) is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit support group for families of higher order multiples (triplets or more) from the Cincinnati, Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana areas. The group was started in 1988 by a mother of young triplets who was looking for other higher order multiples families to meet and talk with. What started as a few mothers getting together has turned in to a thriving group of over 100+ Member Families. In 2001 we were granted official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and Tri-State Multiples, Inc. was formed.

Raising higher order multiples is a sometimes difficult and challenging task. Beginning with pregnancy, HOM parents share many of the same experiences and challenges. Some of these are serious such as high risk pregnancies, complications due to prematurity (more than 90% of triplets and virtually all quadruplets and higher multiples are born preterm), medical issues, and financial hardship (often families must drop to one income), and others less serious but important like developing good feeding/sleeping schedules, safety proofing the home, whether to separate or keep together in school, and - our most popular challenge - potty training! The goal of Tri-State Multiples (TSM) is to provide emotional support, networking opportunities, educational information, as well as social activities for our members. Tri-State Multiples, Inc. is a non-political, non-racial and secular group. We provide support on many levels: support for expecting parents, new parents, parents experiencing the loss of a multiple, family illnesses, family hardships, as well as sharing the many joys of raising multiples. We draw our membership from the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana areas.

Our monthly Mom's Night Out Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month and are hosted by our members in their homes. In addition to our monthly meetings, we also organize regular social events for the moms, dads, parents and the whole family. We average one activity per month in addition to our regular monthly meetings. These include: a Santa Luncheon, a Halloween Fall Festival, a Mardi Gras parents' night out, a winter and summer Moms Overnighter at a local hotel, an Annual Splash Days for the whole family, a Zoo Day, a Scrap-a-thon fundraiser, buying and selling at our Spring and Fall Used Clothing and Equipment Sales (see Sale Details for more info), a New Moms Open House, a Mother's Day Dinner for the Moms, and - believe it or not - MORE! One of our most utilized resources is our Yahoo group, an e-mail group of our members that allows individuals to reach out for advice and information to a large group of members at one time and draw on a vast resource of experience.

The support we provide at TSM also includes charity work and community outreach. We are big supporters of the March of Dimes and are annually at the top for family team contributions. Tri-State Multiples created and administrates a charity fund called The Families First Fund, a fund designed to assist any family of higher order multiples (member or nonmember) experiencing a serious financial hardship (see Families First Fund).
